ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Ruth Lundring is a contemporary artist, working primarily in acrylic and oil to create large-scale abstract paintings. Her works centers on the language of visual elements like color, shape, and form to build deeply subjective experiences for the viewer. Through flowing composition and intuitive mark-making, she explores the quiet beauty found in natures movement and balance.

Her paintings are both playful and meditative, designed to evoke emotions while fostering a sense of calm and inner harmony. Layers of color and organic forms interact to create a soothing visual rhythm, inviting viewers to slow down and connect with their own perceptions and feelings.

Born and raised in Norway, she lived in Sweden for 18 years before moving to the United States in 2001.Alongside a dedicated career in nursing, she pursued her artistic passion through college-level studies and workshops with professional artists. Now retired, she continues to explore and express her lifelong connection to nature through her art.

Currently, she works out of her studio in Orange, California, where she continues to develop her abstract practice, guided by an ongoing exploration of beauty, emotions, and the expressive potential of paint.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My painting process begins with what I see and feel - an intuitive response guided by my understanding of image-making, where knowledge and instinct are woven together. I approach each painting through play and experimentation, allowing curiosity to guide the first marks. From there , a dialogue unfolds between myself and the painting, where each layer informs the next.

I explore the language of visual elements - color, shape, line, and form - as a way of develop structure and meaning. Through this evolving process, the composition gradually emerges, balancing intention with discovery.

Working in acrylic and oil, I am drawn to large-scale paintings that invite immersion. The physicality of scale allows me to move freely, creating works that both feels expansive and personal. Each piece becomes a space for exploration, where feeling and form come together in a continuous act of making.

I believe that the concept of art as a universal language facilitates communication and understanding, which may bring us closer and deepen our connections.
